A useful first conversation can reveal which facts still need checking. Keep seller statements separate from verified evidence.
Confirm the basics
Ask for the exact model, engine, gearbox, mileage and registration. Compare the details with the advert and with the vehicle when you view it.
Ask for records
Ask what service records and repair invoices are available. A claim of full service history needs supporting documents.
Discuss known issues
Ask about warning lights, starting problems, leaks, noises, recent repairs and visible damage. Request clear photographs where appropriate. Photographs cannot establish mechanical health.
Arrange checks before committing
Plan an appropriate inspection and separate MOT and vehicle-history checks. A seller’s description and an AI review cannot replace them.
